The Guardian – A white nationalist wanted for crimes authorities say were committed on the campus of the University of Virginia a day before a deadly rally has said he will turn himself in to authorities.
University of Virginia police say Christopher Cantwell of Keene, New Hampshire, is wanted on three felony charges: two counts of the illegal use of teargas or other gases and one count of malicious bodily injury with a “caustic substance”, explosive or fire.
Contacted Tuesday by the Associated Press, Cantwell – who appeared in a Vice News documentary about the violence – acknowledged he had pepper-sprayed a counter-demonstrator during an 11 August protest but insisted he was defending himself, saying he did it “because my only other option was knocking out his teeth”.
Cantwell also said he had been trying for days to find out about whether he had outstanding warrants. When the police issued a statement, Cantwell said he was “convinced” that he was wanted and would turn himself in.
If you haven’t seen the Vice News documentary of what all transpired on the day of the Charlottesville rallies, I strongly encourage you to watch the documentary in full, unbiased (mind-blowing that I have to include that).
Christopher Cantwell is the neo-Nazi featured in the short who portrays a bombastic and overly exaggerated (and I use these two words for a reason) hate for people of color and different religion. Throughout the documentary he promotes nothing but a rhetorically violent and hate spewed agenda, and even doubles down on the fact that if he has to resort to violence, he wouldn’t flinch in a heart beat. He actually tries to make himself more capable of violence.
Well I’ll be damned if karma isn’t a real thing. A week ago word got out that Mr. Hardo Cantwell had warrants in his name and we immediately began to witness the repercussions of his actions. As a matter of fact, he recorded himself crying about how he wasn’t a violent person at all and that he actually pushes to promote peaceful protests.
Where did all that hate you had in you go?
Side note: This year has easily been one of the most controversial years in American politics ever. I hate politics for the sole reason that it keeps the country divisive. There’s literal sides (parties) and people have the ability to choose which one to support; blindly if they feel so inclined. I was talking to my buddy about this the other day but I really try to refrain from speaking in depth on politics, not because I don’t want to, but simply because I don’t know enough, and honestly, that could go for a majority of the public as well.
Back to this guy. He talked a big game when it came to being in-front of the camera and pushing his bigoted agenda, but now when his ass is on the line, we got to really see what kind of character he was. Did he not once think that saying all of those aggressive and hateful things wouldn’t come back to haunt him? This is 2017 and things do get recorded, documented and published, just as an FYI.
All of that obviously settled in with him, and he feared that the police might come and use force against him for the felonies he is charged for. Or even worse, take his life. Hence why he turned himself in. The hypocrisy in all of this is astounding.
