Welcome, people, to FMR. For the record, I believe I’ve been abbreviating and using the hyphen entirely wrong in roundup but whatever, you know? You’re just here for the music, right? Here we go.
Khalid – Talk
Khalid hasn’t put out one bad song. Not one. I’ll give you $100 dollars if you can point me in the direction of a bad Khalid song. He’s back on the new single “Talk”, produced by one of our favorite DJs, Disclosure. Khalid hinted that his next album should be released before Coachella, and I just got excited typing that.
Cautious Clay – Honest Enough
DC native Cautious Clay returns in 2019 with an atmospheric track titled “Honest Enough”. This guy is on the come up and 2019 is brewing to be a great year for this guy.
AJ Tracey – Triple S
UK grime rapper AJ Tracey released his self-titled debut album today and having listened to a couple tracks off of it, this was one that caught my attention out of the gate. Crazy energy on this one and he bodies the flow over the production.
Earthgang – Proud of U
So Earthgang is another fellow Dreamville label artist with J.I.D. and they’ve teamed up with Young Thug to deliver a track titled “Proud of U”. Fun fact about the song, it was inspired by Jada Pinkett Smith. Look it up.
Barrie – Clovers
Finally we cap off this week with Barrie, a diverse group of 5 artists (Lindsay, Dominic Apa, Spurge Carter, Noah Prebish and Sabine Holler) haling out of Boston, Baltimore, upstate New York, London and São Paulo via Berlin before coming together in Brooklyn under the Barrie moniker. This is a light and airy track that uses simple piano chords, synths, and spaced out guitars.
