Business Insider – “Jake Paul, a 20-year-old Disney star and “influencer” with nearly 25 million followers across social media, has been accused of turning his Los Angeles neighborhood into a “living hell” for the families that populate the area.
Paul lives in a West Hollywood rental property with a rotating cast of fellow influencers. He and his “squad” have parties and do stunts on the property. One recent stunt involved setting furniture on fire in the backyard. A giant blaze ensued with flames reaching the top of the house, neighbors said.”
I know, this guy sucks. For every good piece of content you find out on the internet, there’s at least 20 others that are mind-numbingly stupid. This guy is one of them. For reference, I am actually familiar with Jake Paul. He’s one of those Viners turned vloggers, has over 8 million followers, and is a total douche head.
I like to think I’m pretty invested in the YouTube space at this point. I love some good quality content, but this guy? No way. I can’t help but cringe when A) I look at his fan base of 14-year-old girls and 2) when his fan base calls him a “savage.”
The guy has created a following over YouTube by doing idiotic pranks in his vlogs, and quite frankly, the kid is a try hard 20-year-old who acts like he’s 14. I first heard of him when I came across this video.
*Fair warning: the cringe on this one is mighty*
I’m sure you could infer how the internet reacted after seeing this, but the worst part about all of it is that it’s bringing the dude more attention. He has over 70 million views on that video alone. Granted there’s over 1 million dislikes too, but 70 million views?! Like, he’s still making money off that video.
I can completely empathize with why his neighbors are probably ready to strangle him. I do. It would suck to live next to him and his group of “friends.” But if you haven’t already caught on to what he does for a living, it’s his videos. And I’m pretty confident the guy makes millions off of his videos and TV endorsements. Needless to say, I think I’m going to go reevaluate my life and really calculate what in the hell I am doing wrong here now.
