Maggie Rogers is the latest artist to birth from NYC. While showcasing her first single “Alaska” at the prestigious school of NYU, in attendance was Pharrell Williams, a prominent singer-songwriter-producer baring a keen ear for the latest and next upcoming talent in music.
While Maggie sat there quite awkwardly and honestly unsure of what reaction to expect from him, Pharrell’s body language looks slightly different. And by different I mean he just about had a dopamine explosion of good vibes throughout his body.
The NYU student’s debut single talks about a time when she was exploring through Alaska, the feelings that she felt at the time, and all the things going through her head while on the exploration. She believes that Alaska needed to be the starting point for her to re-ignite her love for music.
While Maggie’s base is growing faster than normal, expect it to keep growing as this should be an artist on your radar for 2017. A new and fresh folk-pop infused voice that is sure to shake up the industry. Be sure to catch the recent releases of music videos Alaska and Dog Years.
