It is now late September, fall is around the corner and football is in full swing. The best time if you are sports bettor like me. I am back again to try and lead you in the right direction. Lets try and make some extra bar tab money for this weekend.
Check me out on twitter, I occasionally tweet out some picks there, @Alex_Fisher11. So far, since the beginning of football season, picks on Twitter are 21-14, including some parlays.
For this week I put a team together to consult on picks. That team consisted of me and my dad, a man who is also an avid sports gambler (wonder where I get it from?).
Lets jump right in! Lines per Bovada as of 9/21/2018 9:00am
Tulane v. Ohio State 3:30 pm – Over 69 (-105)
This one is simple for me, I like finding games where the home team is a huge favorite, in this case 38 points, and the over/under is right around double that point spread. Vegas is telling you this is a blowout, so this game comes down to can Tulane actually score some points, and just how much will the Buckeyes put up? This team scored 77 points alone in week 1. Take the over here.
Virginia Tech v. Old Dominion 3:30 pm – Over 51 (-110)
Another over pick here. It is never fun to pull for the under anyway. I am still unsure of what this Va Tech team is, that FSU win means nothing this year. However Old Dominion has gotten blown out by some less than average football teams. Va Tech in a blowout, total goes over.
Akron v. Iowa State 12 pm – Akron +19 (-110)
Sometimes after a team plays a good game or keeps a game close when unexpected they are overvalued the next week. Iowa State played well against Oklahoma and kept it a game. I believe they may be getting more credit than deserved because of last week’s game. Akron is team that beat a big ten team in Northwestern last week. Take the Zips and the points.
Army v. Oklahoma 7 pm – Oklahoma -31 (-105)
Yes, that is a lot of points to lay. However, I think this OU team is legit again this year. If OU can stop the option and get the Army offense off the field this could get ugly. Also helps that in their last 15, Oklahoma is 12-3 ATS at home. Lay all of those points and watch the Sooners run away with this one.
Some bonus small leans:
Georgia v. Missouri 12 pm – Over 65
Pitt v. UNC 12:20 pm – UNC +3.5
Charlotte v. UMass – 3:30 pm – UMass -7.5
Time for a few quick NFL picks
Saints v. Falcons 1:00 pm – Saints +3
Division rivalry between two dome teams. This one stays close the whole time. Saints win on the road.
Chargers v. Rams 4:05 pm – Chargers +7
The Rams have won both their games pretty easily but the schedule helped a lot. Chargers give them a closer game here in LA.
Packers v. Washington 1:00 pm – Packers -3
Difficult to lay the points in a road game but the main factor here is that the pack have Aaron Rodgers and injured or not he matters. Green Bay gets a road win and covers.
Bengals v. Panthers 1:00 pm – Over 43.5
This Bengals team has came out of the gates on fire the first two weeks, averaging 34 points a game. Panthers gave up 31 to an Atlanta offense that did not look that great week 1. Last time these two teams played they combined for 74 points. Take the over and watch a shootout take place.
A few other small leans:
Denver v. Baltimore 1 pm – Denver +5
Cowboys v. Seahawks 4:25 pm – Seattle -1.5
49ers v. Chiefs 1 pm – 49ers +7
